College of DuPage, foundation ordered to pay paper's FOIA legal fees
The College of DuPage and its foundation will have to pay a newspaper $225,000 after a court ruling in an open-records lawsuit.
That sum will go to reimburse the Chicago Tribune for legal fees it incurred after suing the Glen Ellyn-based college and the foundation in 2015, according to a Tribune report. That lawsuit was filed after the organizations refused to turn over documents following an open records request.
DuPage County Judge Robert Gibson ordered the payout Friday. Including legal fees incurred by the college and the foundation, the cost of the litigation is more than $500,000.
