An important lesson

Like most people, I was outraged by the killing of George Floyd by a policeman, and I simply couldn't understand why three other police officers stood by and let it happen. After thinking about it for a while I think I do.

I am told that one of them had only been on the job for a few days and the other two were also rookies. It is likely they were afraid to take action against this tough 20-year veteran. There is evidence they weren't in favor of this kind of this behavior. Yet they did nothing to stop it. In a way, I feel sorry for them. I'm sure they learned something, albeit a little too late. Their lives are more than likely ruined.

I hope young people approaching adulthood take notice and realize that following the crowd is not always the best thing to do. One should stand up for what is right regardless of the fear of short term consequences.
