Round Lake Beach woman shot in Waukegan

A 24-year-old Round Lake Beach woman was shot in the shoulder in Waukegan early Saturday, police said.

Waukegan detectives say the shooting is an isolated incident and stemmed from a fight between two groups that exchanged gunfire overnight.

Patrol officers were called about 12:10 a.m. to the 00 block of N. Genesee Street for a report of shots fired. Officers found multiple shell casings in the street, police said.

Dispatchers then told police that a woman had arrived at Vista Medical Center on Sheridan Road with an injury that is not expected to be life-threatening.

Detectives from the department's gang intelligence unit say the woman and witnesses to the shooting were uncooperative.
