Learn about spring ephemerals in Long Grove

Daily Herald report

The Long Grove-Kildeer Garden Club is hosting a free seminar on spring ephemerals at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 8, at Reed Turner Woodland Nature Center, 3849 Old McHenry Road in Long Grove. An ephemeral is a perennial plant that emerges quickly in the spring and dies back to just its underground root or bulb for the remainder of the year. Landscape architect Ed Max will be the guest speaker. All are welcome. Take a hike through the woodland afterward to see what wildflowers have already emerged.
