Waukegan police searching for two who held up convenience store Monday

Waukegan police are asking for help in identifying two men accused of robbing a convenience store, officials said.

Waukegan police were called to the North Avenue Mart in the 900 block of North Avenue at 11:20 a.m. Monday for a report of an armed robbery, authorities said Tuesday.

Police said the store and an individual who was shopping inside were robbed at gunpoint by two masked gunmen, who drove away from the area in a white pick up truck or SUV.

The suspects are described as black males wearing masks, authorities said. One suspect is described as stocky and the other was said to be thin.

Authorities said cash was taken from the store and the shopper. Personal items were also taken from the shopper during the robbery, authorities said.
