Naper Lights dazzles downtown Naperville through December

Prepare to be dazzled by Naper Lights, a stunning holiday lights and music display, while strolling down Water Street, through the Plaza and the south side of the Riverwalk in downtown Naperville.

Sponsored by Naperville Sunrise Rotary, Naper Lights is free to the public and illuminated daily from 4 to 9 p.m. through the holiday season. Walk under a lighted arch that stretches over Foyo Plaza, gaze at lighted animated displays featuring skating penguins, sliding polar bears, and carolers, among many other scenes. Be sure to look up to find Santa and his reindeer flying high above you. A 45-foot tree that's lit day and night is the main attraction and a perfect place for photos.

"It's a very popular spot. We had our first engagement of the season while we were setting up the tree," said Deborah Newman, spokesperson for Naperville Sunrise Rotary.

On weekends, volunteers from Naperville Sunrise Rotary pass out special "reindeer viewing glasses" to the kids for a $1 donation, as well as hot chocolate and cookies, to help the Rotary club support local and international charities dedicated to helping youth and families.

In its new downtown location, families now have the opportunity to not only take in Naper Lights, but also can spend an evening in the heart of the city, shopping, dining and enjoying holiday festivities.

Many local businesses, including Gerald Subaru of Naperville, sponsor Naper Lights and make it possible for the event to grow while remaining free to the public. Naperville Sunrise Rotary recently honored the Gerald family with a Paul Harris Fellowship for their dedication to living out the Rotary values of service above self, giving back and supporting the community.

"It's the partnerships we have with community leaders like Doug Gerald, that make these events work and allow us to funnel funds back into the community and local and international programs Sunrise Rotary supports," Newman said.
