Florida State tight end Ryan Izzo declares for NFL draft

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Tight end Ryan Izzo will forego his final year of eligibility at Florida State and declare for the NFL draft.

Izzo said in a statement released by the university on Wednesday that he made the decision after careful consideration. He thanked former head coach Jimbo Fisher and former tight ends coach Tim Brewster for their support. Fisher resigned last month to take the job at Texas A&M and hired Brewster for his staff.

Izzo finished fifth on the team this season in receptions (20), third in receiving yards (317) and touchdowns (three).

The 6-foot-5, 259-pound Highland Parks, New Jersey, leaves with 54 career receptions, which is the fifth-most by a tight end in school history.
