Geneva OKs separation terms for unidentified employee

The Geneva City Council approved a "voluntary separation agreement" Monday night for an employee.

But city officials aren't identifying that employee, nor releasing details of the agreement.

Mayor Kevin Burns said the name would be revealed within five days.

According to city spokesman Kevin Stahr, the motion to approve the agreement did not include the person's name. The 10-0 vote was taken in open session.

Stahr said the information would not be made available Tuesday because the city's attorney "is wrapping up things on our end, and we are waiting for the employee to sign the agreement as well."

The agenda read: "2. Closed Session on the Appointment, Employment, Compensation, Discipline, Performance, or Dismissal of an Employee of the Public Body 3. Open Session to Consider Approval of a Voluntary Separation Agreement and Release of All Claims Subject to Minor Modifications by Legal Counsel."
