Palatine man charged with sexually abusing toddler
A Cook County judge on Friday ordered a Palatine man held on $1 million bail on charges he sexually abused a young child who attended a home day-care operated by the man's mother.
Connor Noonan, of the 100 block of South Walnut Street, was charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault. If convicted of the charges he faces up to 60 years in prison.
Prosecutors say Noonan, 20, abused the girl between May 2012 and June 2013 when she was 2 to 4 years old and he was about 16 or 17.
When the now-6-year-old learned she was to spend a weekend at the home while her parents were out of town she became distraught and told her parents what had happened, Cook County Assistant State's Attorney David Shin said.
Her parents alerted police, who began an investigation, Shin said.
Noonan, who has no criminal background, was ordered to have no contact with the girl and no contact with anyone under 18, Shin said.
Noonan next appears in court on March 31.
