Midwestern University celebrates College of Pharmacy commencement
Students from the Midwestern University College of Pharmacy-Downers Grove celebrated the beginning of their professional careers with a commencement ceremony on Thursday, March 3.
A total of 126 students received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) and will begin their professional pharmacy careers or participate in postgraduate residency programs.
Kathleen H. Goeppinger, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer of Midwestern University, acknowledged the many achievements of the graduates during their years of rigorous study and clinical experiences.
"While at Midwestern University, all of you spent time on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of you helped vaccinate people as part of the University's Operation Hope initiative and we truly appreciate all you did for others," Dr. Goeppinger said. "You all demonstrated amazing resilience throughout your pharmacy coursework and clinical rotations, and we are very proud of your accomplishments."
The ceremony also featured remarks from Moises Rodriguez, Pharm.D., Class of 2022 Vice President.
"As we reflect on the challenges that we faced in the past few years, I would like to take a moment to honor all of our hard work," Dr. Rodriguez said. "Whether we're pursuing residencies, fellowships, community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, or any other multitude of pharmacy career paths, I'm both excited and confident in our ability to positively impact patient care and empower the profession of pharmacy," he added.
Since 1991, the College of Pharmacy, Downers Grove has prepared students for vibrant careers in a variety of practice areas such as community pharmacies, hospitals, managed care facilities, clinics, educational institutions, and pharmaceutical companies.
