Softball: Fremd's Mazur blasts 31st career homer
Fremd senior Jess Mazur belted her single-season school-record 13th home run and record 31st of her career while going 3-for-5 with 2 RBI as the visiting Vikings rolled past Lake Zurich 15-1 in six innings in Thursday's nonconference game.
Kaylee Goluch (2-for-4) also belted a 3-run homer for Fremd (18-9) which scored 6 runs in the top of the sixth to earn the 10-run rule.
Other multiple hitters for the Vikings were Hannah Ban (2-for-5, 3 RBI), Anna Freveletti (3-for-4, 3 runs, double) and Bella Wojcik (2-for-4, 2 runs).
Senior Nikki Kehoe (9-4) earned the win with a 6-strikeout 4-hitter.
St. Edward 4, St. Viator 3: ln the final regular-season game for both teams, Lions senior Jess Taylor struck out six and gave up only 2 earned runs in the nonconference game in Arlington Heights. Cece Kaiser drove in all 3 runs for the Lions with her third home run of the season in the third inning.
Haley Robinson had 3 hits and Maggie VanValkenburg added two for St. Viator (5-25).
