Lake County sheriff release results of traffic crackdown

Lake County Sheriff's deputies issued 85 citations during the Independence Day traffic safety campaign, authorities said in a news release. Of those citations, 42 seat belt tickets were written during day and nighttime patrols, officials said. The Lake County Sheriff's Office joined forces with other law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners throughout the state in the Illinois Independence Day "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" traffic safety initiative. It was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
