Assault on Medicare
While war distracts our attention, the Biden administration has quietly fired a deadly shot at older Americans' health care. Trump started "Medicare Direct Contracting," a backdoor project to privatize Medicare. It inserts for-profit middlemen between patients and their doctors. They can refuse care to patients and pocket up to 40% of taxpayers' Medicare dollars as profit. Patients would have no say whether they're sucked into this system. And it would enable the complete destruction of Medicare without a public debate or Congressional vote ever happening.
Now, in the face of growing protests, the Medicare Advantage corporate executive who's now Biden's "Medicare Innovation" director has tried to save the program, trivially tinkering with it and disguising it under the new name "ACO REACH." But the same corporate bad actors are behind it, and the endgame remains the same: ripping apart our Medicare for profiteers. Scream to your representative and senators to stop them, while you can.
