Police: Crystal Lake man drove drunk with three kids in car

Palatine police said they have charged a 42-year-old Crystal Lake man with multiple crimes after they found him slumped over drunk behind the wheel of his vehicle on Algonquin Road Saturday night with three kids were in the back seat.

According to a news release issued Tuesday, the man's car was stopped on Algonquin Road just west of South Roselle Road blocking a lane of eastbound traffic when officers arrived just before 7 p.m. Saturday.

John Costa, of the 100 block of Crystal Ridge Drive, was charged with one count of driving under the influence of alcohol and three counts of endangering the life of a child. Costa's bond was set at $75,000 and he will be back in court on Sept. 7.
