PSG beats Strasbourg 2-0 but star Neymar limps off injured

PARIS (AP) - French Cup holder Paris Saint-Germain won 2-0 against Strasbourg on Wednesday to reach the last 16, but lost Neymar to what appeared to be a right foot injury.

Neymar, who sustained a groin injury two months ago playing for Brazil and also broke his right foot nearly one year ago with PSG, looked visibly upset as he limped off after 60 minutes of the game at Parc des Princes.

PSG won the game with an early goal from Edinson Cavani and a late one from Angel Di Maria.

Strasbourg is one of only two sides to have held PSG to a draw so far in the French league, but the Alsace side posed little threat on a chilly night.

Cavani, who scored a second-half hat trick in Saturday's 9-0 home win against Guingamp in the French league, needed only four minutes to score PSG's first goal after being set up by striker Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting's chested control and first-time pass through the middle.

Di Maria ran to the back post to adroitly volley in Julian Draxler's pinpoint cross from the right in the 80th.

After losing at home to fierce local rival Lyon in the fifth minute of injury time on Sunday, Saint-Etienne lost 6-3 at home to first division strugglers Dijon.

There were no other upsets, as first-division sides Rennes and Caen joined PSG and Dijon in the last 16.

In Wednesday's French league game, striker Clement Depres scored twice as promoted Nimes moved into 10th place with a 3-1 win over Angers.
