Gurnee beer fest raises $20,000 for American Legion

The third annual Legions of Craft Beer Fest in Gurnee raised $20,000 for Gurnee American Legion Post 771 and $5,800 for the Lake County Honor Flight, organizers announced this week.

This year's fest was held Sept. 16, at Gurnee Mills, and featured beer from more than 50 breweries, along with food trucks, live music and more.

The fest was launched in 2015 as a way to keep the financially struggling American Legion post afloat after Gurnee officials opted not to allow video gambling in the village.

Next year's fest is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15.
