None hurt, but communication lines damaged in Lombard fire
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and no one was hurt after two vehicles behind a landscaping firm in Lombard caught fire Friday night.
Lombard fire Lt. Frank Gallione said a passer-by called firefighters at 5:32 p.m. for the blaze in the 1000 block of East St. Charles Road.
He said the communication lines to the rear of the address "like Comcast or AT&T lines were definitely starting to burn," but power lines were a safe distance away and no one lost power.
No one was in the vehicles.
The fire was under control within about 10 minutes of firefighters' arrival and is now under investigation, Gallione said.
The damage included two or three pickup trucks and landscaping equipment. Some vehicles near the two where the fire started received minor damage, Gallione said.
Lombard firefighters were assisted by the Elmhurst and Villa Park fire departments and the Addison and the York Center fire protection districts.
