What's really scary
In response to Mr. Jandrisits May 5 letter "Leaders going too far": We are all tired of it. We all want to get back outside and we all want to get back to work, in short - back to normal. But the reason for the stay-at-home orders, for closing businesses, for social distancing, for wearing masks, etc. - is to protect ourselves from each other. There is no way of telling who is a carrier of this disease and who is not. If there were, it would make the entire process so much easier. Masks and social distancing have proven to help prevent the transmission of the disease. But for now the curve is still rising. And understand that the top of the curve is where the hospital system is overwhelmed - not where the disease has been eliminated.
But for Mr. Jandrisits to break out that now old chestnut of blaming the Democrats for holding the results of the election as the cause of all of this is truly getting old. The reason that the governors (both Democrat and Republican) are instituting these rules is the direct result of the lack of leadership and the continuing flow of changing misinformation from the Administration.
And to threaten a protest similar to the occupation of the Michigan state capitol by armed Trump supporters as a justifiable expression of freedom is just incredibly scary - perhaps scarier than the pandemic itself.
