City of Muncie debuts new historic preservation plan

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - The city of Muncie has a new historic preservation plan that includes creating more historic districts and protecting structures that could be demolished.

The city has posted the plan on its website. The proposal cites that its part of an ongoing review of properties that are at least 50-years-old that are scheduled to be torn down. The (Muncie) Star Press reports (http://tspne.ws/1PXwk3I ) that the plan also advocates establishing a local register of historic places and establishing new historic districts or conservation districts.

Architecture students at Ball State University produced the plan in collaboration with city officials and the Muncie Historic Preservation and Rehabilitation Commission.
