After kicking off with a charity softball game the previous evening, Buffalo Grove Days was in full swing Thursday with the opening of food and beer tents, carnival rides and a bags tournament hosted by the Buffalo Grove Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce.
The 57th annual edition of the fest runs through Monday at Mike Rylko Community Park, 951 McHenry Road.
One of the longest-running festival in the Northwest suburbs, this year's event includes an expanded carnival with more rides, the return of the Labor Day car show, a barbecue challenge, disc golf competition and the always popular Rotary duck race.
Main stage entertainment is highlighted by Southern California rock band Eve 6 on Saturday night and local favorites 7th heaven Sunday night.
The Buffalo Grove Days parade steps off at 11 a.m. Sunday, with more than 85 units, including marching bands, floats, antique and classic cars, fire and police vehicles, and the Shriners. This year's grand marshal is former village trustee Steve Trilling, who retired last year after 15 years on the village board.
