I am self funding my campaign so that my only obligation is to the Voters of Antioch. Over the years I have proven to be independent and well informed when voting on issues before the Board. Having raised a family in Antioch and having a child in High School I am very aware of the issues our families face today. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I believe our taxes are to high but not because of the Village Budgetary needs but because of other taxing bodies. The best thing Antioch can do is bring in additional Commercial and Industrial Businesses to help relieve the need for the village or other taxing bodies from relying upon residential property taxes.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns? Our Police Force is very good and dedicated. We have taken steps such as bringing in an experienced independent Chief, Expanded training and resources for our officers. The Fire Department as the result of the successful referendum is detaching itself from the Village. I look forward to working with the First Fire district to ensure service levels continue to get better. My greatest concern with public safety is ensuring we are doing all we can to ensure the safety of the public on our local highways.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?It is easy to say cut the budgets. The entire board and staff have done a good job during the economic down turn of slashing costs and running a tight budget. every year as we review the budget and listen to the public we find areas that can be cut and or need additional funding. We have to start looking at doing more roads in subdivisions and replacing underground infrastructure that dates back to the last century. What is one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I have proposed a traffic accident reduction plan for the highways entering the Village of Antioch. The speeds and level of traffic on our local highways present a safety concern and I believe all the entities that have responsibility for those highways can work together for the safety of our residents and our visitors. Additionally the silent Heroin is an issue that needs more awareness. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office? There are so many issues we face today from zoning issues, economic development, downtown stagnation, property value reductions, to businesses begging for relief as they struggle to survive that it is important to have people with experience, integrity and independence elected to office. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.I grew of Age under Ronald Reagan and am hoping the country reaches a point where our leaders are like they used to beWhat is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?I learned that if you work hard and persevere the American Dream is still possible. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I don't think I would change anything because I have found that which caused you pain in the past prepares you for the future. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Reading was my favorite subject because it leads me to the answers I need for everything in lifeIf you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Just keep Trying and Do Your Best. If you do you will be proud of yourself!
