Round Lake Beach man killed while crossing Route 83 with groceries
A man was struck by a car and killed while walking a bicycle and carrying groceries across Route 83 in Round Lake Beach, authorities said.
The man, identified as a 67-year-old Round Lake Beach resident, was crossing Route 83 near Monaville Road shortly before 7 p.m. Monday when he was struck by a 2008 Ford Taurus driven by a 26-year-old Lindenhurst woman traveling south, police said Tuesday. An Infiniti car driving in a northbound lane of Route 83 then struck debris from the crash, police said.
The victim was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name had not been released as of Tuesday night.
The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team responded to investigate the crash.
