Girls soccer: Lake County roundup
Nicole Robb and GiGi Sahagun scored second-half goals to lead Mundelein's girls soccer team to a 2-1 win over host Warren in North Suburban Conference action Friday.
Addison Spilman and Myah Strokosch had assists for the Mustangs, who trailed 1-0 at halftime.
Warren (4-5, 0-1) got its goal from Morgan Liebau off an assist from Elizabeth Weinberg.
Antioch 6, Westosha Central 0: Rachel Moore had 2 goals and 3 assists, and Ella Roberts added 2 goals and an assist for the Sequoits in their nonconference win.
Antioch also got a goal from Iowa-bound keeper Monica Wilhelm, who scored her first career varsity goal on a free kick from midfield. Sequoits coach Marni Polakow said the ball landed inside the 12 and skipped up on the keeper, who caught it but was falling back into the net. She tried to throw it out of the goal but was only able to throw it into the side netting.
Morgan Keefer also scored for Antioch, and Danielle Brose contributed an assist.
Wilhelm earned the shutout in net, as the Sequoits (5-2-2) improved to 5-0-2 in their last seven games.
Grayslake Central 4, Zion-Benton 0: Maura Fitzgerald and Madeline Mussay each scored twice for the Rams in the nonconference game.
Fitzgerald also had an assist, as did Veronica Mussay and Grace Herrmann. Rams keeper Taylor Ford made 3 saves in earning the shutout.
Vernon Hills 2, Grant 0: Julia Neary and Alex Ludolph scored for the Cougars in the nonconference match.
Daniella Jarrell had 2 saves in earning the shutout for Vernon Hills (2-3-1).
Grant keeper Lexi Werve had 11 saves.
