Girls soccer: Palatine extends Kinsella Cup run; Schaumburg edges Naperville Central

Palatine's girls soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over visiting Fremd to claim the Kinsella Cup on a chilly Saturday afternoon.

The Pirates snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 2-3-1 overall.

Palatine has gone unbeaten in the last five Kinsella Cup matchups with the Vikings. The Pirates won by the same 1-0 score last year.

Fremd slipped to 2-2-1 this spring and had a two-game win streak snapped.

Schaumburg 3, Naperville Central 2: Al Schaar scored the decisive goal with an assist from Coree Benesch to help Schaumburg's girls soccer team defeat Naperville Central 3-2 on Saturday in tournament play hosted by St. Charles East.

The Saxons also got a first-half goal from Dana Kizkowski (assisted by Schaar) and another in the second half from Kizkowski (assisted by Emma Aguilar).

Livvy Masi stopped 10 shots for Schaumburg (3-3).
