Garage fire in North Barrington causes $100,000 in damage

A fire that started in the garage of a North Barrington home Thursday caused as much as $100,000 in damage, fire officials said.

Firefighters from Lake Zurich first responded to the 400 block of Brook Forest Lane in North Barrington around 3:15 p.m. after a resident had returned home to find a fire in the garage, officials said. First responders were able to contain the blaze to the garage and had the fire under control about 15 minutes later.

Two cars that were in the garage were damaged, and while the flames didn't directly damage the home itself, there was smoke throughout the house, according to officials.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and no injuries were reported.
