Waukegan woman killed in Gurnee crash identified
A 45-year-old Waukegan woman who died after a Dec. 30 crash in Gurnee was identified by authorities Monday.
Samantha Scott, 45, was pronounced dead early in the morning Dec. 31 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek said.
First responders were called about 11:30 p.m. to the intersection of Tri State Parkway and Centerpoint Court, where they found a 2005 blue Chevrolet Monte Carlo had struck a pole.
Witnesses reported that the car had been speeding south on Tri State Parkway and passing other vehicles just before the crash, according to police.
Scott was unresponsive and trapped in the vehicle when Gurnee police officers arrived. Gurnee firefighters and paramedics freed her from the car.
A 51-year-old Waukegan man who was a passenger in the car suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Investigators Friday were still trying to determine whether any other vehicles were involved.
Banek said her office will perform an autopsy on Scott's body on Wednesday.
