Conant hangs on against Hoffman Estates

Paulina Chowaniec scored 1 goal in each quarter and Nia Tsoulos had 3 goals as host Conant managed to edge Hoffman Estates 11-10 on Wednesday in Mid-Suburban West girls water polo.

Hoffman Estates trailed 5-1 early in the second quarter but rallied to pull within 1 goal at 6-5 by the early part of the third quarter and stayed close to the lead the rest of the way.

Ann Cho paced the Hawks with 4 goals and Jenny Fermaintt scored 3.

Conant (8-1, 3-1) has a share of the West lead with Fremd and Barrington.

• Hersey maintained its MSL East lead by getting past visiting Wheeling 7-4.

Karolina Niemiec scored 4 goals to lead the way for the Huskies (7-1, 4-0), which allowed only 1 goal after Wheeling's Argelia Diaz scored 3 in the first period.

• Isabella Rosas scored 4 goals and Ellie Connors stopped 8 shots to help host Barrington to a 6-3 victory in Mid-Suburban West girls water polo Wednesday.

The matchup was tied at 3 heading into the fourth quarter. The outcome keeps Barrington tied for a share of the West lead with Conant and Fremd.

Andrea Potgietera and Mia Latimer also scored for the Fillies, while Mathilde Mogensen, Kristin Anderson and Jasmina Mesic tallied for Palatine.

• Karolina Urban scored 3 goals and Sarah Coombes and Paulina Pappas each had 2 to help Fremd keep its share of the MSL West lead with an 8-1 victory over Schaumburg. Emma Jeronimus made 17 saves in goal for the Vikes (5-3, 3-1).

• Gracie Dix scored 4 goals and Colleen Doyle added 3 for Prospect in an 11-4 MSL East victory over Elk Grove.

Connie Vuong added 2 goals for the Knights (4-4, 3-1) while Nicole Greda and Megan Pfeiffer had 1 apiece.

Prospect goalkeeper Lauren Broz made 8 saves.
