Softball: St. Charles East's bats come alive at Neuqua Valley

St. Charles East pounded out 19 hits in a 12-6 nonconference win over Neuqua Valley on Friday.

The Saints trailed 6-5 going to the bottom of the fifth inning before scoring 6 runs.

Lauren Luna went 3-for-5 with 3 RBI. Krista Sbarra also had 3 hits and scored 3 runs, and Chelsea Campagna was 3-for-4.

Katie Arrambide, Maddie Stout, Alexandra Wooten and Izzy Howe all had 2 hits. Luna and Wooten both hit home runs.

Arrambide earned the win, striking out 11 and walking two.

Batavia 12, Hoffman Estates 1: Leah Karel went 2-for-3 with 4 RBI leading the Bulldogs to a win.

Peyton Sachse (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 runs), Alex Klein (2-for-3), Allison Bahlmann (2-for-3, 2 runs) and Kaitlyn Collazo (2-for-3) all had multiple hit games for Batavia.

Elizabeth Thayer held Hoffman Estates to 3 hits in 5 innings, striking out four.

Grayslake Central 13, Dundee-Crown 3: Caleigh Gertz went 2-for-2 for the Chargers (1-4) and drove in a run. Cady English and Abigail Arsenault also had RBI.

Cary-Grove 13, Stevenson 3: Emma Hill earned the win, giving up just 2 earned runs and 5 hits in 6 innings. She also went 1-for-3 at the plate with 2 RBI.

Francesca Cruz (3-for-4), Kelly Johnson (2-for-3 2 RBI), Katy Wieczorek (2-for-4, 2 runs), Jazmin Flashing (2-for-4, 2 runs) and Grace Clarke (2-for-4, 2 runs) all had big days at the plate for the Trojans.

Hononegah 4, Huntley 3: The Red Raiders (7-3) led 3-2 until Hononegah scored twice in the bottom of the sixth. Lindsay Morgan homered and drove in 2 runs while Briana Bower took the loss despite striking out seven and walking none.

Burlington Central 17, Rosary 1: Lindsay Jamrozek was clutch at the plate with runners on base, driving in six on two hits to lead Central (5-1) past Rosary.

Jamrozek drove in runs on a double in the second, a sacrifice fly in the third, and a double in the fourth.

The Rockets scored nine runs in the second inning. Hanaa Nkhikhssi, Peyton Curtis, Kate Snow, Reili Gardner, Jamrozek and Rylie Duval each had RBIs in the big inning.

Alisyn Catenacci homered in the first inning, scoring two runs. Catenacci was the winning pitcher in the 4-inning contest allowing five hits and one run while striking out six and walking one.

Central tallied 14 hits on the day. Snow, Gardner, Curtis, Duval and Jamrozek all collected multiple hits.

Emily Hurst went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Rosary.

Geneseo 7, Kaneland 3: The Knights gave up four runs in the first inning and three in the second and couldn't catch up.

Donatella Sommesi, Olivia Ortegel and Rose Roach each had hits for Kaneland.
