Girls water polo: Fremd protects MSL West lead
Fremd's girls water polo team passed another test in the Mid-Suburban West, topping Conant 8-6 on Monday to protect its 1-game lead over Barrington with 2 league games remaining.
Sarah Coombes led all scorers with 4 goals, and Pauline Pappas had a pair for Fremd (16-4, 7-1).
Sam Wooley scored 3 goals to pace Conant (12-10, 4-4), which had 16 shots stopped by Emma Jeronimus.
Barrington 11, Hoffman Estates 3: Mia Latimer (5 goals) and Andrea Potgieter (3) led the way as Barrington improved to 14-3 overall and 6-2 in the MSL West. Francia Morales-Diaz paced Hoffman Estates (8-14, 0-8) with 3 goals.
Palatine 6, Schaumburg 4: The Pirates bounced back from a scoreless first period to claim an MSL West win as seniors Kristin Anderson (3 goals), Tess O'Brien (2) and Mathilde Mogensen (1) scored.
Hannah Pearson tallied twice for Schaumburg (6-11, 2-6).
Meghan Woell (5 saves) and O'Brien (6) shared time in goal for Palatine (11-10, 5-3).
Fenwick 10, St. Viator 3: Julie Warren, Megan Drake and Paige Laskiewicz came up with goals for the Lions (3-9, 2-3) in MCAC action.
Rolling Meadows 12, Wheeling 1: Sarah Luedloff's 5-goal effort led the way for the Mustangs in an MSL East matchup.
Lizzie Hardt and Maggie Goodwin added 3 apiece for Meadows (15-6, 5-3), and Betsy Zanocco stopped 9 shots.
