Kinder-collegiate Exploration
Harper College Chemistry Department Chairman Julie Ellefson made a return visit to Queen of the Rosary School this month. Ellefson, with several Harper College students in tow, delivered another day of hands-on learning for the Elk Grove school's kindergartners.
The college students, who are currently enrolled in chemistry classes and majoring in education, practiced their teaching skills by bringing chemistry alive for the eager young learners.
An action-packed day saw the kinder-collegiate pairings making silly putty, building circuits, creating elephant's toothpaste, and exploding rockets.
Professor Ellefson has made frequent visits to Queen of the Rosary to teach science, which students and staff greatly appreciate.
