Why are our troops there?

I couldn't help but wonder while watching The Code on reently why we keep sending troops to the Middle East to fight other people's wars. I can understand that sending advisers to teach them how to be more knowledgeable when it comes to fighting to protect their countries from their enemies is OK, but getting our young men and women murdered and maimed in my opinion is not the answer.

I feel the presence of our troops just causes resentment toward the U.S., since it is not really "our" fight. It is wrong, since it is not our culture and not in our part of the world, so we are viewed as intruders.

I believe it is time for us to rethink our policy of sending our troops to fight everyone else's battles. It really needs to be their soldiers winning their wars.

No one could win my fight if I had one, but you could teach me strategies which might help me to win, and I believe that is what we should be doing in the Middle East, supporting their cause because we believe it's right but not fighting their battles.
