Join in Third annual GO GURNEE Story Walk Sept. 7 with Warren Newport Public Library
Hunt Club Park, 900 N. Hunt Club Road, will host GO GURNEE's third annual Story Walk from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.
With summer coming to a close, and autumn just around the corner, Warren Newport Library will feature "Fletcher and the Falling Leaves" by Julia Rawlinson.
"With two "like-minded" agencies we can extend our reach within the community. We're proud to partner and bring important wellness activities such as walking and reading together," shared Gurnee Park District's Recreation Manager Beckie Korzyniewski.
The GO GURNEE movement provides free, nontraditional ways to get the Gurnee community out and walking. Teaming up with Warren-Newport Public Library and sharing a story, does just that.
"Walking, reading and participating in the actions seen on storyboards, rather than pages in the book, brings the story to life," continued Korzyniewski.
GO GURNEE, along with Gurnee Park District will also host free face painting, crafts and more family fun. The entire family is more than welcome, but the Story Walk is recommended for ages 1 to 6.
If families are unable to attend, the storyboards will continue to be up throughout the day for families to enjoy at their leisure.
Should inclement weather be forecast, please be sure the check the Gurnee Park District Rainout Line, prior to attending. For information, visit www.gurneeparkdistrict.com/events/go-gurnee/27325/go-story-walk.
