PAFA Extends Registration Deadline to June 1, 2019
The Palatine Amateur Football Association (PAFA) has extended its registration deadline for the upcoming tackle football season to June 1, 2019, with jersey size and number preferences given to those who register by May 15. PAFA is open to boys and girls entering 3rd through 8th grades this coming fall.
"There has been an influx of new interest from area parents about getting their children involved with PAFA, so we've extended our deadlines to give more of them a chance to become a part of our football family," said Frank Stark, PAFA president.
Stark added that the organization has grown over the years due to its strong culture of teamwork, and lasting relationships that result from supportive coaches and a true team mentality amongst the players, and their family members.
Safety, teamwork, fundamentals and fun are areas of focus for PAFA, and all coaches are certified through USA Football to practice the 'Heads Up' Football Technique. This technique addresses key safety issues that are utilized during practices and in games and was developed with guidance from sport and medicine experts across the U.S. For more information, please visit usafootball.com.
There are five different divisions within PAFA:
• 9U (players entering 4th grade this fall)
• 10U (players entering 5th grade this fall)
• 11U (players entering 6th grade this fall)
• Junior Varsity (players entering 7th grade this fall)
• Varsity (players entering 8th grade this fall).
As part of registration, Strength and Agility Training through Palatine's premiere fitness family, Ball 4 Training is included, and will be held over the summer on alternating weekdays depending on age division, beginning Wednesday, June 5 through Friday, July 26.
Other important dates include PAFA equipment handout day on Wednesday, July 10, with a second equipment handout on Monday, July 29, which is also the first day of league practice. Practices are normally held on three weekday nights (depending on age division) from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Ost Field in downtown Palatine.
Games begin around Labor Day (home and away) and are held on Saturdays or Sundays; the upcoming season's game schedule has not yet been announced and will be published on the PAFA website.
