Gurnee Community Pageant crowns its three 2021 queens
The Gurnee Community Pageant recently crowned the new 2021 queens at the Viking Park Dance Hall in Gurnee.
Contestants competed in personal interviews, speech, pop questions and evening gown modeling.
The newly crowned 2021 queens are: Miss Gurnee Bella Jansen, Junior Miss Gurnee Brooke Herod and Little Miss Gurnee Anabelle Herod.
Bella Jansen is 18 years old and will be a freshman this fall at St. Norbert College in Wisconsin. Her platform as Miss Gurnee is "Serving and Supporting Single Mothers."
Jansen's goal is to empower the lives of strong women and positively impact the lives of their children. Bella is planning special events throughout the year and partnering with the Stabin House in Waukegan to support local single mothers and their children.
Brooke Herod is 11 years old and is starting seventh grade in Gurnee. As Junior Miss Gurnee, Brooke will be supporting children in hospitals and care facilities by making special ice packs to comfort them during treatment.
Anabelle Herod is 9 years old and is starting fourth grade in Gurnee. Anabelle is looking forward to assisting her sister queens with donation collections for their platforms this year.
The Gurnee Queens will work closely with Mayor Tom Hood, the village of Gurnee and the Gurnee Park District to serve their community this year. The Gurnee Queens will compete at the Lake County Illinois State Pageant next spring.
