Grayslake's Color Aloft Balloon Festival returns Aug. 24
Enjoy balloons, baseball, and more when the village of Grayslake, Grayslake Park District and Grayslake Chamber of Commerce present the seventh annual Color Aloft Balloon Festival.
The event will take place from 3-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Grayslake's Central Park, 250 Library Lane. Festivities will include musical entertainment, children's activities, storytelling and business booths.
The event begins with a Civil War-era baseball game at 3 p.m., in which the Grayslake Athletics take on the McHenry Independents with 19th century rules and uniforms.
The main attraction of the event is a hot-air balloon launch and night glow, with 12 balloons scheduled to take part. The launch window will be open from 5:30-6 p.m. The night glow is planned for between 8 and 8:30 p.m. Balloon events are weather dependent.
Entertainment will include Slam Funk performing at 5 p.m. on the Main Stage.
There will be no food vendors on-site, so attendees are invited to bring a picnic and set up in the park.
Parking for the event will be available at Grayslake Central High School, Grayslake Middle School, the Grayslake Aquatic Center and the Grayslake Library. Handicap parking is available off Briar Gate Lane.
Admission is free. Visit www.grayslakechamber.com.
