Boys track: Prospect edges out Hoffman Estates
Prospect won four relays to edge host Hoffman Estates in a boys track matchup featuring two of the Mid-Suburban League's top teams Tuesday.
Prospect finished with 77 points, with the host Hawks at 74 and Wheeling at 34.
The Knights had the top finish in all four relays.
Individual wins for Prospect were supplied by Andrew Reimann in the 3,200 run (10:30), Erik Snell in the 800 run (2:02.5), Casey Daleiden in the 1,600 (4:40.2), Sebastian Swistak in shot put (47-6) and Michael Shafis in high jump (6-1).
Marshall Davis of Hoffman Estates won both the long jump (20-10) and triple jump (38-5). Other Hawks winners included Anijel Jones in the 100 dash (10.9), PJ Rodriguez in the 110 hurdles (15.1), Darian Waits in the 300 hurdles (41.0) and Conner Kiley in the 200 dash (23.3). Senior standout Declan Rustay did not run.
Wheeling's Angel Villegas had the top finish in the pole vault (12-0), and teammate Ivan Muro won the discus (133-6).
• Host Barrington came out on top in an MSL triangular against Hersey and Buffalo Grove. The Broncos finished with 97 points to 49 for Hersey and 47 for BG.
Nick Laning and Kevin Curet were doubly tough for Barrington. Laning won the 3,200 in 9:46.6 and the 1,600 in 2:00.8, while Curet was tops in the 110 hurdles (15.5) and the 300 hurdles (42.4). Senior Luis Cossio had the fastest effort in the 200 (22.7), and Brad Warman won shot put (58-11.5).
Buffalo Grove's Andriy Mykulyanych won the 100 in 11.0, and Hersey prevailed in the 4 x 800 relay (8.25.1).
