Loyola Maryland holds off Lafayette 81-78

EASTON, Pa. (AP) - Andre Walker scored 21 points, Jarred Jones had 18 and Loyola Maryland held on to beat Lafayette 81-78 on Saturday.

Jones had 16 in the first half when the Greyhounds (3-10, 2-0 Patriot League) opened a 42-31 lead. The lead stayed around 10 until the closing minute when Nick Lindner, who had 26 points, scored the last 10 points for the Leopards (3-10, 0-2).

Walker, who had 16 points in the second half, hit two free throws with 53 seconds left to make it 78-68. Linder hit a 3 and followed with a layup after a Loyola miss. Walker made two more free throws at 20 seconds to make it 80-73 but again Lindner hit a quick 3. The Mountaineers proceeded to make just 1 of 4 from the line and Lindner made a layup with two seconds left. The Leopards got the ball back but Lindner missed a desperation heave at the buzzer.
