Naperville church's 'Sunday Musicale' to feature violin music Aug. 13

Community United Methodist Church's next "Sunday Musicale" will feature "The Romantic Violin" on Sunday, Aug. 13.

This free community program will be offered from 3 to 5 p.m. online or in-person at the church, 20 Center St. in Naperville.

It will feature violinist Jennifer Leckie, who is described by New Music Connoisseur as a "superb and mature musician with lots of technical mastery." She will be accompanied by pianist Chris Garafolo.

The program will feature: Violin Sonata in A major "Grand Duo" D 574 by Franz Schubert; Three Romances for Violin and Piano by Clara Schumann; and Violin Concerto, Op. 64 by Felix Mendelssohn.

These are free community concerts featuring artists from the Chicago metropolitan area which are sponsored by the Senior Outreach and Music Ministries of Community UMC.

The concert will be held in the second-floor sanctuary; elevator and hearing loop are available.

A reception will be held following the program. Can't attend? The event will be live streamed, plus a recording will be available later on YouTube.

The next concert will be "Sacred Songs & Arias" on Sunday, Oct. 1, with soprano Jonita Lattimore and pianist Chris Garofalo.
