Wheeling man guilty of striking pregnant woman
A Wheeling man who admitted to striking a pregnant woman was sentenced to probation Wednesday on top of the jail time he's already served.
Guadalupe Moreno-Osornio, 34, pleaded guilty to aggravated battery of a pregnant woman. In exchange for his guilty plea, Moreno-Osornio was sentenced to two years of probation and 84 days in Cook County jail, court records show. He was also ordered to pay $714 in fines.
Prosecutors say Moreno-Osornio struck the woman, whom he once dated, last October following an argument. The woman, who suffered bleeding and swelling to her face, refused medical treatment, prosecutors said during Moreno-Osornio's bond hearing.
