Arrest in fatal Waukegan attack

A Chicago man has been arrested for the death last month of Johnathan Wolfe, 62, of Waukegan, authorities said in a news release Monday.

Waukegan police announced a first-degree murder charge was filed against Nicholas Grandison, 32.

At approximately 7:20 p.m. Jan. 10, officers responded to an apartment complex on the 2400 block of Dugdale Road for a battery. Wolfe suffered a severe head injury and was taken to a hospital. He died Jan. 29 from his injuries.

After an investigation, Grandison was arrested Jan. 30 and charged with the murder, according to the release. Police believe Grandison entered the gated apartment complex without permission to solicit for a third-party energy provider.

Inside a building, he encountered Wolfe and a physical confrontation occurred.

Grandison is held on $5 million bail in the Lake County jail. He will appear in court Feb. 14.
