Health crisis confirms fears about president
I've been crossing my fingers in the hope that our country would not experience a national crisis while Trump was in office. That hope disappeared with the current coronavirus pandemic.
My fear has been realized with the gross incompetence displayed by Trump and his administration. Two years ago, Trump shut down the two offices in the White House that were responsible for dealing with pandemics. We've known this virus was present in China since last November and likely to spread. Trump has been unwilling to use the World Health Organization's test kits, which are cheap, fast, effective and widely available. Few people in this country have been tested, leaving Americans walking around unaware that they're infected leading to its spread.
South Korea tests 10,000 of its citizens daily. Even our soldiers overseas have no test kits. Does anyone doubt that Trump is more concerned with the stock market than he is about the health and well-being of the American people?
Trump spokespeople continue to spread the lie that the virus has been contained. Misinformation isn't going to make the virus go away. Thankfully, state and local officials have been committed to address the outbreak, but they're only cleaning up Trump's mess.
