Pandering on homelessness
Well, here we go again with our esteemed Gov. J.B Pritzker pandering to the uninformed and non-thinking general public in Illinois.
Pritzker signed a bill that he says will eliminate homelessness in the Land of Lincoln. Governor, can I point out a couple of things?
One: You will never eliminate homelessness, because many of the homeless choose that specific lifestyle, regardless of who or what makes a futile attempt to get them off the street. This portion of the homeless population wants to remain homeless no matter how much money you throw at the situation.
Two: There have been homeless people since Jesus walked the earth. It is not a problem you can address and put together a program that attempts to house the homeless for more than a night or two. However, Pritzker will stand in front of any camera and tell the uninformed and non-thinking public that he is going to solve the problem. Ridiculous pronouncements by the prince of hyperbole.
Homelessness, poverty and despair have always been with us and will always be with us. Provide a leg up, sure, but don't stand up and tell people you are going to solve the problem. It cannot be done.
