Three people were taken to hospitals after a four-vehicle crash in Sugar Grove yesterday afternoon, including one patient who was airlifted in critical condition, fire officials said. <h3 class="briefHead">Authorities searching for missing Palatine man </h3>

Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a 59-year-old Palatine man who left his home early yesterday reportedly distressed about personal matters. According to Palatine police, Jeffrey MacDonald left his residence between 1 and 2:30 a.m. Thursday in a 2004 Red Mazda 6 station wagon with the license plate "COX 997." Full story.

<h3 class="briefHead">Naperville improving safety with intersection upgrades</h3>

Two well-traveled intersections in Naperville are in line for improvements this year - one to increase safety and another to facilitate extra traffic from new development. City officials say the work should improve conditions at Book Road and 75th Street, where DuPage County is leading a safety project, and at Aurora Avenue and Webster Street, where a traffic signal is necessary because of the hotel, restaurants, shops and parking under construction at the Water Street District. <h3 class="briefHead">Mundelein woman accused in fatal crash </h3>

A 23-year-old Mundelein woman remained in the Lake County jail yesterday on charges involving a fatal crash last March in Libertyville. Police on Tuesday announced Amanda Auld, of the 300 block of Balmoral Drive, was charged with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol that resulted in death involving an accident on March 7, 2015, at Harris and Peterson roads.
