Elgin church to host candlelight prayer vigil on gun violence Sept. 5

On Thursday, Sept. 5, Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, 12N462 Tina Trail Road in Elgin, will hold a community candlelight prayer vigil on the nation's gun violence epidemic at 7 p.m.

Prayers will be offered for all those affected by gun violence and a prayers for the end of gun violence.

The Rev. Brenda Mitchell, Illinois member of the Everytown Survivor Network, will share her personal story, along with common-sense ways to respond to this violence.

Also, a representative of the Fox River Valley Initiative will discuss their initiative, "Do Not Stand Idly By."

Various area clergy also will participate.
