Don't blame Trump for high campaign costs

Liz Szymanski in the July 2 edition of The Daily Herald takes Donald Trump to task because she deems it pathetic that so many millions of dollars are being spent to win elections.

She states, "Not the billions (of dollars), but people should decide who is going to be next president."

She criticizes Trump for trying to spend his way to the presidency? She should get the facts straight. The facts are that as of Feb 29, Hillary Clinton raised $160 million dollars for her campaign. Bernie Sanders Raised $140 million for his campaign. Mr. Trump raised nothing and is smart enough to have become the presumed nominee of the Republican party spending $2 million bucks (of his own money).

So far, he is beholden to no one for making it up to this point.

Ms. Szymanski, in her obvious dislike for Mr. Trump, could have justifiably criticized him for many issues. Instead she accused him of doing what Hillary and Bernie did: Raise a lot of money and buy the presidency, which he, being the wise businessman he says he is, did not do.

Like her, I'm not impressed with Mr. Trump, but if Hillary becomes president, I know what a disaster that will be for the country.

If the Donald wins, the possibility, slim to be sure, exists that he will be a decent leader of our country.
