High wind warning issued for suburbs today

A high wind warning is in place from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. today, National Weather Service officials have reported.

Southwest wind gusts of 60 mph are expected, officials said.

Strong winds could make travel difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Winds could also cause property damage and meteorologists recommended weighing any lightweight outdoor objects down.

A strong storm that was expected overnight Tuesday in the suburbs squeaked past just south of the city, officials said. Heavy rain, strong winds, and some hail were reported.
