Christian Liberty Academy to host sailors for Christmas
On Christmas morning, Christian Liberty Academy, 502 Euclid Ave., in Arlington Heights, will host 50 sailors from Naval Station Great Lakes. This will be Christian Liberty Academy's seventh year of hosting sailors on Christmas Day.
These sailors cannot go home for Christmas, so Christian Liberty Academy and the Veterans Memorial Committee of Arlington Heights will do its very best to give them a Christmas almost as good as home.
This includes a full Christmas dinner; unlimited treats; free phone calls home all day; video games and TV (all not allowed for them on base); and lots of well wishing.
A big part of this effort comes from the hundreds of people on Christmas morning who will offer a warm welcome to these young men and women. There will the flag line along Ridge Avenue manned by volunteers. All are welcome to greet the sailors when they arrive; arrive at Christian Liberty Academy by 9 a.m.
For most recruits, it's their first Christmas away from home, so give them a warm welcome with an expression of appreciation for their service to our country.
The Christmas dinner for the sailors is also open to the public. The holiday meal will be served at noon. RSVPs are required for dinner to Bob Stack at stackrb@aol.com or (847) 567-4318.
