Trump's desire to hear Christian voices
In response to Lorraine Brand's letter of June 23, "Christians support Trump?" Whether you are a Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, Protestant, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Evangelical, etc. you are on "Team Jesus Christ."
I was among 4,000 plus attending a prayer rally in Springfield with Franklin Graham's ministry, "Decision America." We came from all over the state, all denominations including Methodists, names were on the sides of the church vansm to pray for our nation and our state.
Franklin Graham did not endorse either candidate, but did instruct us Christians to vote for the candidate that would listen to our Christian voices. He said that four million evangelical voters stayed away from the last presidential election because neither candidate fit the "Christian" criteria that would win their vote. 333,000 votes could have changed the outcome of our last presidential election. He said, we don't always get a perfect choice, and this election is proof of that. He also said that we Christians need to start running for political office, as our retreat from the political realm has caused secularism to rise in this country.
If you want Christian values in this country, you need to infuse them into everyday life and government, not just in the churches. God gave us this country, the freedoms we enjoy and the right to vote. God is not a Republican, nor Democrat, but he is in control. Some of us might have to hold our nose and vote this year, but for me, I am listening to Franklin Graham's advice and I am going with the candidate that is listening to our voices. Your letter is evidence of Trump's desire to hear our Christian voices.
