Prosecutors: Men gave Arlington Heights girls beer, sexually assaulted them

Two girls riding bicycles in Arlington Heights were invited into an apartment by two strangers, given beer and sexually assaulted, prosecutors say Wednesday at a bond hearing for the men.

The men, both 21, were ordered held on $1.5 million and $750,000 bail.

Authorities say Mike Steven Motta-Saenz and Juan Jair Solis-Gaspar asked the girls, ages 12 and 13, into the apartment the two men shared on the 0-100 block of N. Dryden Place, gave the girls beer and suggested they "chug" it, then assaulted them.

Motta-Saenz faces predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse charges. He was ordered held on $1.5 million bail.

Solis-Gaspar, who was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, was ordered held on $750,000 bail. Prosecutors say they may file additional charges against Solis-Gaspar.

Both must pay the full cash amount to be released from custody.

Setting high, cash bails was "necessary to protect the community," Cook County Judge Marc Martin said.

Neither defendant has any criminal background, prosecutors said.

The girls were riding their bicycles about 4:30 p.m. when prosecutors say the defendants invited them into the apartment. After drinking beer, the girls began to dance while the men groped them, Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Jennifer Gates.

Solis-Gaspar picked up one of the girls and carried her into a bedroom where he sexually assaulted her, Gates said. Motta-Saenz pulled the other girl into another bedroom and sexually assaulted her, Gates said.

One of the girls told her mother what happened and both girls were examined at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. They described to authorities the defendants and the apartment, whose interior matched their description, Gates said. The girls also picked Motta-Saenz and Solis-Gaspar out of separate lineups.

They next appear in court Aug. 23.

Juan Jair Solis-Gaspar, 21, of Arlington Heights was charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
