Flood advisory for Des Plaines, Fox rivers; rain lingers through Thursday

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for people along the Fox and Des Plaines rivers in Cook, McHenry and Kane counties.

The Des Plaines River in Des Plaines is expected to crest at about three-inches above flood stage after the current rain moves out of the area, the National Weather Service is predicting.

The Fox River in Montgomery, Algonquin and New Munster, Wis., is expected to crest several inches above flood stage starting Saturday.

Showers are likely and a possible thunderstorm is predicted through the morning, according to the National Weather Service. Additional thunderstorms and additional rain is predicted overnight.

Showers are expected to linger through Thursday afternoon.
